Poem Deux in the "Sierra Series"
Title:
A fairer Sierra for me.
Or At last I found the one.
Or You’ll do!
A night with you Sierra Nevada Porter I so did not dread.
I looked forward to enjoying your medium bodied ale with a creamy head.
Alas it was not to be for when I walked into the bar I did so halt.
For there you were in the corner spreading with that woman your deep roasted barley malts.
I should have known from the start, from the get go,
Your smooth flavor, malty with hints of caramel from me some day you would blow.
Fine I shall adjust; I will find another, go to a new love.
After all perhaps it is time for someone paler, smoother more light bodied, fitting more like a glove.
I spied Sierra Wheat Beer lounging in the corner over by the dart board.
I became excited for an unfiltered ale brewed with premium malted wheat, oh my oh lord!
I shall sample you oh dear wheat one, dip into your characteristically spicy strissel spalt hops from France.
The lightest of the Sierra Nevadas I am sure not too many I will need before I am happy, delighted in my pants.
And then just when I thought all was going fantastically with the two of us,
Your eye did wander and off with your loads of flavor did you saunter away leaving my hair all a muss!
Ah but the night is still young and so am I...in maturity and responsibility at least.
Now that I think of it Sierra wheat was too full of itself, overpowering with yeast!
Just then out of my eye did I catch a new face, a new sheriff was in town, fresh meat per say.
The award winning Bigfoot Ale sitting there so close, very near by boasting a dense, fruity bouquet.
Well hello there big fella I uttered so softly, even letting out a perfect purr.
Bigfoot’s extremely rich, intense palate caused within me oh such a stir.
Swishing its deep reddish brown color just so and taunting me to engage
How could I not let go and be with Mr. Bigfoot and create a memorable life page?
I cannot resist its character full with hoppiness like never I have felt.
An earthy aroma, its chewy palate and great depth of flavor truly now causing me to inside melt. At last I had found the one, the king of all the Sierras!
Caution to the wind I did throw and not a one did I possess of careas!
Alas, that was last night and all but now just a memory floating in my very much in need of many Advil head.
Off to the bathroom I now tromp, even slink along the wall in pain yet not wanting to let go, still to the fantasy I desire to be fed.
Oh my Sierra dear I am happy every time I’m with you.
You are so intense, malty, bittersweet, thick, tangy and possess such a wonderful hoppy chew.
Oh my Sierras I do so love you all.
I cannot help but totally and utterly, unaquivably into your love fall!
